Ever since The Raid 2 blew our minds, we’ve been waiting on news of a new Gareth Evans joint. Well the wait is finally over folks, and it sounds like it’s going to be worth the wait.

THR reports that Evans will write and direct Apostle, a mystery thriller which takes place on a remote island as a man searches for his missing sister who has been kidnapped by a religious cult. The cult want money in exchange for her release, but this isn’t the type of dude you want to blackmail.

Just from reading that plot synopsis, you can spot the ingredients of a violent showdown for the ages. Evans does action better than most, but this sounds like it might be covering more horrific ground as well.

Evans has already explored the subject of cults in his mind blowing V/H/S 2 segment “Safe Haven”, which also reaffirmed that everything he touches is incredible. This movie is going to kick ass.

XYZ Films, Severn Screen and Evans’ One More One Productions will produce Apostle and the production is slated for a March 2017 start in the U.K.
