Hello Games, the developers of No Man’s Sky, have released a blog post on their website telling us about a big new update that will be on its way.

Called the Foundation Update, it will add the beginnings of base building and “is putting in place a foundation for things to come”.

On their blog post, Hello Games said: “In the nine weeks since then our small team has been hard at work on development, testing and certification for the Foundation Update. It won’t be our biggest update, but it is the start of something.”

The team also asserted that they have been listening to all of the feedback on the game since its August release. Moreover, the reiterated their commitment to long term post launch support for the game.

It’s fair to say that No Man’s Sky was one of the most highly anticipated releases of the year and, for many, was also one of the most disappointing. With very mixed reviews at the time of release the overwhelming criticism of the title was a lack of content and direction. Hopefully updates such as this one will be part of the long process of getting their substantial player base active once again.
