Initially, people were maybe a little bit worried about putting a pig in the movie.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was one of the most popular movies of 2018 and I think it’s safe to say it sort of caught people off guard. People didn’t know what to expect and when they sat down in the theater they were blown away by a world inhabited by a number of different Spider-People, all brought to life with gorgeous, vivid, and extremely detailed animation.
Movies like this don’t just happen. The first idea isn’t typically what sticks. That’s where concept art comes into play. In order to create this breathtaking world, the artist and animators behind the scenes had to brainstorm a number of different ideas before settling on the final product. In anticipation of the upcoming 4K, Blu-ray and DVD releases of the film on March 19th, Sony has released concept art and behind the scenes clips for two of the film’s protagonists.
First up is the film’s lead, Miles Morales. With Miles in the driver seat as the first non-Peter Park Spider-Man to headline a Spider-Man film, it was important to nail his design and portrayal.
And then there’s Spider-Ham. He may seem like the silliest and goofiest of any superhero to appear on the big screen, but he packs a mean punch and became an instant favorite.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is now available on Digital. 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack, and DVD hit shelves on March 19th.
