Legendary horror director Brian Yuzna might not have released a film in over six years, but he is set to release his debut novel – and we only have one week to wait before we get to read it.
The Pope tells the story of a Californian parish under attack from a Pope-attired serial killer hell-bent on slaughtering paedophile clergymen.
Yuzna, who has brought as such horror classics like Society, Bride of Re-Animator and Return of the Living Dead Part III has been developing The Pope for quite some time. In an interview with The Horror Channel in 2013, his frequent collaborator John Penney stated the project would begin life as a comic; followed by the novel, then a film.
As far as we know, the comic hasn’t materialised yet – but you can pre-order the novel from Amazon at the time of writing and it’s set to be released on November, 1st. Just in time for Christmas if you’re stuck for ideas on what to get your parents as a gift. Head on over to Amazon and pre-order it now.
The world really needs a new Brian Yuzna film in the near future, but a novel from his wonderfully demented imagination is just as good.
Of course, it’s going to take a lot to beat Robert Kirkman’s Battle Pope, the comic series about the hard drinking, disgraced bishop who must team up with Jesus to save Saint Michael from demons.
