Holy cats my creeps did your ol’ pal Daniel XIII ever have a ton o’ love for the New York Dolls…and when their guitarist Johnny Thunders, along with drummer Jerry Nolan left that outfit to form their own band, The Heartbreakers, in 1975, I feel their excellence just grew!

Well, all things must end, and in 1979 the final nail was hammered into The Heartbreakers coffin…but like many dead rock n’ roll bands; that corpse just wouldn’t stay buried, and in 1984 the band reformed and added former Doll Sylvain Sylvain into the mix.

Anyway, where is all this rockin’ reminiscing going? Damned if I know…oh, wait, yeah, I have an awesome new DVD/CD combo to lay on ya; Johnny Thunders – Madrid Memory from those delightful lil’ devils over at MVD and Cleopatra Entertainment!

Contained on this CD/DVD is the performance Thunders and the reformed Heartbreakers gave for TV broadcast in Madrid, Spain on the program La Edad De Oro. The setlist contains material from throughout Johnny’s career, and is one hell of a show, as years of punk rock energy are harnessed into an explosive concert…and believe me, you’ll see the boys work hard for the money…so hard for it honey as they lay down an extensive collection of devilish ditties. Seriously, slap your putrid peepers on the run down for this thing:

    Personality Crisis
    Too Much Junkie Business
    In Cold Blood
    Just Another Girl
    Alone In A Crowd
    Sad Vacation
    Don’t Mess With Cupid
    Green Onions
    Copy Cat
    14th Street Beat
    I Love You
    Born Too Loose
    Eve Of Destruction
    Diary Of A Lover
    Hurt Me
You Can’t Put Your Arms Around A Memory

As mentioned, you get this legendary show served up two ways; a DVD of the event, as well as a CD for you to enjoy on the ol’ go to let the entire town know you are punk as fuck, ya bastard!

If you’re a Dolls or Heartbreakers fan, Johnny Thunders – Madrid Memory is obviously an absolute must have, but I’d even recommend this to folks that have never experienced the majesty of Johnny Thunders in order to make them instant converts!
