That’s Not Current is a collective of nerds who have formed like Voltron to bring you our own unique brand of pop cultural musings – past, present and future… but mostly past. We have come to kick ass and chew bubble gum.
The brainchild of three twenty-somethings from the heart of Scotland, That’s Not Current was an idea born on a day of gloom and rain as a way to embark on a neon-drenched adventure through the history of geek culture. Our aim is to provide the essential guide to being stuck in the past, and with our international task force of likeminded contributors, that’s exactly what we’re going to do. So, is 8-bit music is your Mozart? Have regularly found yourself succumbing to the power of blast processing? Do you yearn for those halcyon days of mom-and-pop video stores, trawling through the aisles, overcome by the joy of the glorious cover arts of Z-grade horror, action and science fiction? Perhaps you regularly imagine yourself becoming a masked vigilante and serving justice one hammer blow at a time because you’ve acquired your moral values from comic books. Or maybe you don’t have moral values, and contemplate becoming a supervillain or kingpin of a crime syndicate so you can ascend to the top of the societal food chain. Maybe you want to throw on a pair of swimming trunks and grapple with your fellow man and/or woman in front of 100,000 people at Wrestlemania. If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then you’ve come to the right place.
